DEIB in the ELT Classroom

Inclusive teaching through connection, not correction

You want your classroom, and your staffroom, to be a place where every student feels welcome.

But when it comes to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), even the most well-meaning educators can feel stuck:

  • “What if I get the language wrong?”
  • “How do I respond when a student says something offensive?”
  • “Is it OK to teach this topic? Will I make things worse?”
  • “How do I support LGBTQ+ learners? Or talk about race? Or handle bias I didn’t even notice I had?”

This program is for ELT teachers, DoSes, and school leaders who are ready to move beyond surface-level inclusion, and build real, practical confidence in the classroom.

What I offer right now

If you’re looking for support with DEIB in your school or teaching practice, I offer standalone, tailored workshops on key topics including:

  • Inclusive language in ELT
  • Unconscious biases in the classroom
  • Calling-In skills for difficult conversations
  • Foundations of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
  • Evaluating ELT materials for equity and fair representation

Each session is designed with ELT in mind which is grounded in real classroom practice, not corporate templates.

Workshops are available now for schools, teaching teams, or conferences.

Coming soon: The full 6-month program

I’m currently developing a deeper, long-term training program for those ready to go further.

DEIB in the ELT Classroom will be a six-month group experience for teachers, DoSes, and school leaders built around real conversations, practical tools, and sustainable change.

It will include:

  • Six 90-minute live sessions
  • A small group cohort (6–12 people)
  • Reflection prompts, case studies, and real-world scenarios
  • Between-session support and application tools

Why not both now?

I’m currently focused on launching my main offer, The Connected Classroom, a three-month course on behavior support for ELT teachers.

To keep things clear (and sustainable!), I'm offering DEIB training through one-off workshops for now, with the full program coming soon.
